NEED HELP DECODING SAGINAW CASTING NUMBERS

I know I didn't pay over $150 for mine. I made the mistake of buying my first 4-speed without looking at the gears first.

NEED HELP DECODING SAGINAW CASTING NUMBERS

If you find the right buyer, and if it's in perfect internal shape then it's probably good for $200-$300 tops. I bought mine with the internals in near perfect shape (outside wasn't the prettiest, but overall in real good shape) for something like $125-$150 if I remember right.

    seats

Depends on where the new seat mounts fall. Since I reused the stock (at least what I believe were stock) G-Body tracks in mine, they bolted right up to the outside mounts (car originally had a bench). My dad cut some aluminum spacers for me at work, they seemed to sit ok but I think they're a...

The factory seat mounts are raised off the floor a little bit... I'd like to say 1"-1¼".

NEED HELP DECODING SAGINAW CASTING NUMBERS

Word... just like a taller gearset having less teeth, allowing for thicker teeth. To be honest I did have a day I beat on it a bit during a cruise in Troy, MI, everybody was doing burnouts alongside the curbs when cops weren't around  It seemed to hold up ok, but they were just 1st gear...

NEED HELP DECODING SAGINAW CASTING NUMBERS

My $.02, it's a Saginaw and if you beat on it much you'll likely break it  Imo there isn't much to be gained (other than personal knowledge) from the casting numbers. The main case is probably the same as any other 4-speed Saginaw, I think the only difference came in the tailshaft. Mine...

    V6 headers

I missed that part. Really? :? I tried a set of "Summit" headers on the Malibu, I believe they're actually Flowtech. Either way, we had to pound the crap out of one of the headers to get it to fit, even though the guide said they'd fit G-Bodies (designed for 3rd gen. F-Bodies). After seeing...

Try Pacesetter 70-1093 (painted) or 72C1093 (coated).

4½" should clear in the rear if you don't have a tire that bulges out too much from the wheel.

    Truck's brakes are acting funky

I'll have to give it a look... when my dad's out in a few weeks I'm planning on getting the (warped) rotors turned while we're doing the engine swap, so I'll probably give the drums a look too. I was actually wondering what condition the brakes were in as I was typing this... I haven't had the...

    seats

That's a good question. Personally I'd like to try a set from the NBS full size trucks that have seat belts in the seat, that would clean up the look a lot imo, but far as I know none of those seats would flip forward enough for someone to climb in, unless they're full manual.

    Truck's brakes are acting funky

Vehicle in question: '92 Sierra, stock brakes. Right now I park out in the driveway, which is at an angle, nothing very steep though. Years ago I read about using the parking brake as to not wear out the parking pawl inside the transmission. Occasionally over the past few weeks (more often...

Will these work or a waste of $

Any of the DEI stuff is decent, but if it's installed like just about every other alarm it won't be much use, if you cut the power wire and have no backup then it's basically useless. If it's hidden well, or somewhere inaccessible then it will be more effective. Most places just mount it up...

Will these work or a waste of $

If it will fire on one pump and you would trust it to work on that single pump, then sure, why not. Personally I probably wouldn't do it on my own because in my experience when an engine doesn't fire when using remote start it cranks a lot longer than I'm comfortable with. I also agree with...

Got to love BOLT-IN street/strip bucket seats!

Alrighty. Do you know where they're made... i.e. USA, Canada, China, ...? They list USD, CAD, and GBP under currencies, so it has me wonderin'.

Very cool :D Do you know if there is any way they'll bolt to stock G-Body brackets?

Starting to think I made a mistake in my build

I'm pretty sure the lower a-arms (lowering arms I think, they were tubular, on the truck when I got it) in my '88 pickup had poly bushings, the thing squeaked all the time.
