What did U do to your G-body today??

First time welding, ever. Welded 8 washers to the frame. Gotta trim a few where they're sticking out and finish welding, then it's time for either bending brake/fuel lines or paint!

my brake suck, i really need help

Is it humid there? I seem to remember reading/hearing moisture can cause that, I had a Sonoma that did the same thing. Also are the wheel cylinders in good shape? That may cause it too, but you'd possibly see fluid loss over time.

What did U do to your G-body today??

Nothing, but I picked up what I believe are the remainder of the required hardlines to do the fuel and brake system (for now).

    HP and TORQUE numbers???'s

It'll make torque but I agree with a different cam... the Thumpr name comes across as a 'poser' line to me, too much rumpitty without as much go. I would stick with 230 or less on the intake if you still want some fun in a daily driver.

    Serious Crossmember Problem

If the crossmember isn't fitting you may have a body mount issue.

    Traction issues?

I would say different springs if you want to lower it. I have traction issues too but I also have a peg-leg. Clamping the springs will cause it to ride rougher because once you compress what coils aren't clamped, those clamped coils have stored energy and will ride stiffer.

    Serious Crossmember Problem

Yes, the 'hump' goes on the passenger side, some of the later years with a 2004R used a different crossmember. This is a TH350 crossmember, note how the holes on the left don't create a line perpendicular to the angle of the crossmember tube itself. This is a 2004R crossmember, note how the...

    Serious Crossmember Problem

The crossmember goes across the frame at an angle, it would seem to not line up if you tried to make it fit straight across. All coupes/sedans had the same frame.

    Serious Crossmember Problem

I've never seen a G-Body crossmember NOT line up at the frame, even for different years. Personally I'd say just do what you need to mount it. If the trans MOUNT pad doesn't line up, certain year/engine combos sometimes had an offset pad, my '78 is that way which was a v6 car, my '81 is...

Any pics with the 17'' rally wheels

DeltaT has them on his, looks pretty sweet. They're way more than I'm willing to spend on a set of STEEL wheels though.

    Body mount torque spec

If the nuts are original and rusty I would say 40 max and put some type of sealer on them to avoid moisture getting in again. Did you chase the threads before putting the bolts in?

What did U do to your G-body today??

I finally did some work on my '78 after another 2 years or so  The frame is still bare and rusty, I took a grinder with a wire wheel to the scaly rust, getting it ready for a little welding, then paint. I'm really hoping to get the frame painted and ready to set the body on before I head...

HELP!!!!!! BRAKE LIGHT/TURN SIGNAL with Race column

You effectively need an SPDT switch to run inline between the brake and turn signal switch. When the turn signal switch is engaged it switches current from the brake light switch circuit to the turn signal switch circuit. You could also accomplish this with a pair of relays.

What did U do to your G-body today??

I typically haven't had the opportunity or funds in the same time frame, currrently I may have a little of both. My girlfriend and I came up for one of my childhood friends' weddings, and this upcoming semester both of our classes are online. She may fly back slightly sooner than me depending...

What did U do to your G-body today??

Nothing yet, but I looked at 'em! I'm in Michigan for an unknown amount of time so I may FINALLY make some progress on the '78!

Alternator wiring mess puzzle of the day

I'm not a fan of running power wires down to the starter on cars with headers personally, but that's just me. If the cables are currently connected to the post on the alternator then they can connect to the battery cable post on the starter.

Alternator wiring mess puzzle of the day

Check to see where the blue wire off the alternator goes. It needs to go to a switched 12v source with a 25-ohm resistor (10-15 watt) or simply to the alternator light as it would with the stock wiring. The other wire on that plug some simpy loop around to the 'battery' post on the alternator...

    Rich on the carb?

I have a GN style exit exhaust... I kinda figured the quarters would have to be fixed to remedy the issue :x

    Rich on the carb?

So I made a cheap heater blockoff plate a few years back for the Bu, and since the quarters are rusted out I get exhaust fumes in the cabin. Is there a possibilty the carb could be leaned out to avoid this? I know it only pulls about 8"-10" of vacuum at idle, so I'm wondering if I need to...

    355 Head Gaskets

Nah, compression will be up a little, but if SS64's friend is running 10:1 with 87 you should be fine. These are what're in mine:
