Eh, you'd spend about the same at a junkyard on a 305 or 350, so why not go for a bigger displacement? ;) 400s are a little different than a 305/350.

    i hate rust...

Yeah, that's why I sold it. Kenobi, if you look at this one and follow where the small triangular brace runs (from the control arm crossmember to the frame rail), it's about 15-18" forward of that intersection. This is the frame of my '78 the day I picked it up, it should help give a better...

I would've gone with a hydraulic T/O personally, then you could use whichever bellhousing you saw fit. I haven't followed this specific conversion too closely, so I don't know all the specifics (been just skimming the posts lately).

Possibly converting to a 4 speed! But I have some questions

For a Saginaw, the driveshaft is the same as a TH350. I can't say the same about a Muncie/T10 though.

Yeah, it's pretty quick in 1st, even for havin' a 2.29  The math equals roughly the same as a 2004R with a 3.42 1st, and 3rd is the same as 4th on the 2004R. I'm not sure where 2nd is, somewhere in the middle  All I know is I can hit 70mph before shifting into 3rd, but that's...

I started a thread a while back on Muncie/T-10/Saginaw ratios. Easiest way is to look at the input shaft & look for how many rings go around the input shaft (perpendicular to the splines). That should give you the ratio set (my 3-speed is the 3.50 first gear set) :)

Re: 388bu's LQ4 swap thread Are you an EE? I got a buddy that doubled with an ME. I probably wouldn't hesitate to do it myself either, I'd just need the research beforehand :P

Possibly converting to a 4 speed! But I have some questions

The Hooker badge didn't have a part number that I saw :? These were supposed to be ceramic coated, guess I didn't break 'em in right or somethin', they've been losing the coating over the years... The tube for the z-bar (pivot) seems to be contacting the header, but it hasn't caused any...

Possibly converting to a 4 speed! But I have some questions

Must be a different part number... my bad, I didn't look at the application footnotes, it's the only Hooker Comp. PN listed for the G-Body shrug.gif

Possibly converting to a 4 speed! But I have some questions

You have a choice of painted, ceramic coated, or stainless (didn't have stainless when I got mine, probably would've gotten those instead). http://store.summitracing.com/egnsearch.asp?N=700+300760+4294908216+4294925046+4294840140+4294799365+4294791244+115+4294908177
