IIRC the rear end is really close to stock Gbody length. Actually I think 1/2" shorter. You need to measure the length from Axle tube end to end, where the backing plates mount up. As far as the stock disc set up that comes on that, IMO get rid of it. It's heavy, very heavy, and the replacement parts are really high $$$. There is a way to convert it to the later Explorer disc brake set up, but you will have to do a little searchin on here to fing that. I myself would use the Speedway brackets fro the Gbody factory calipers and S10 rotors. I plan on doing this set up to my 12bolt in the future.
