well i called California performance transmissions. he recommended 2800 to 3200 stall and told me not to waste my time with a stock 2004r. He said b&m builds there converters to take away some of the hard hit from a tight converter that would break my trans. They also said stock trans with shift kit and billet servo would only take 300hp reliably.

So i think im going to pull this out and not waste 550-1k for a good converter for it. Im sure a turbo 400 would be able to handle a 370hp motor with 100hp shot on it.

turbo 400 100$
3k redneck converter is 295$ shipped
82$ for transgo shift kit / manual valve body kit
about 500 total still cheaper then redneck 2004r converter.

Yep, freshly built stock 2004R with Shift kit & Billet Servo, 400HP/TQ Max.
Above 400HP/TQ you'll need a Billet shafted Forward Drum. Above 500HP/TQ, Billet Input Shaft and O/D Ring Gear & O/D Planetary. These are need for a reliable trans that's beat on regularly.
It gets costly, just depends on how bad you want to keep the O/D. If it's mainly a Drag car go with the TH400.
