balancer install

I have a 1987 monte Carlo ss with a sbc 400 engine and want to change the stock balancer to a tci rattler do I have to remove the radiator with electric fan or can it be done with the electric fan on the radiator still in the car I also will be using a balancer install tool? Thanks
