I want to run Billet Specalties Street lights 17x9.5 on the rear of my 79 Malibu. Would a 5 in back spacing clear with a 275 /40 /17 tire? Is any one running this BS?

Don't know if this makes a difference to either of you, but if notice, all the Monte's in those pics aren't lowered that much...Look at how much room there is between the top edge of the tire and the edge of the wheel lip. Looks like 2" or so. Right now with my 16x8's & 245/50's the rear fender lip is even with the top edge of the tire. I don't know how guys can fit 275 in the back with no mods, mine would rub horribly with it being lowered.
Good point StreetBu, lowering your car does make a big difference when picking wheels and tires. Thats why I'm just going to stick with my stock 15's
