I have a 8.5" rear end from a GN, with 4.56 gears, and posi that I will be putting in my 78 bu. I have a 383 putting out between 475, and 500 HP, that will also be put into the car. I have a TH350 and believe the drive shaft needs to be shorten approximately 3/4" according to various posts. Is the stock drive shaft strong enough to handle that kind of power???????? I'm not seeing many posts on what drive shafts people are using with that kind of power. Thx for the info.

Some people have had luck with the stock driveshafts, myself i used one of a 81 chev pickup. Ive seen 3 of my friends spit the stock ones out. my opinion is get a better driveshaft
