I have and 81 elcamino with a 383 Aluminum heads and th-400 with a 9in and it weighs 3280. I am wondering if the malibus are lighter or about the same.

what else have you taken out of the el camino. If i am not mistaking malibu's are lighter than el caminos from teh factory. The difference wasnt that great i believe. At the most 200 lbs lighter being the malibu.
My 83 El Camino is a steel head SB/PG, glass bumpers and hood, mildly gutted interior with roll cage and it weighs 3033 w/o me in it. It still has the stock gas tank, glass windows and I run it full of fuel for weight distribution. I really thought it'd be heavier! I'm sticking with my Elky.
That is great news to hear that the elky is that light. I have pretty much the same set up as you with full interior and a 700r4. Im hoping mine comes in at less than 3300 or around that with me in it.
