I bought a used 8" Fluidampr for a 400 SBC used at a swap meet about a year ago. I'm getting ready to rebuild my 383 with a Scat 9000 series cast steel crank. I then read on Scat's website they recommend not using a fluid type dampener.

I did a search on thirdgen.org it's about a 50/50 split. Some guys swear by them, others wouldn't touch them with a ten foot pole.

Use it or just get a new stock type balancer? Primary use is an under 6000 rpm street motor.

Ideas & comments welcome...

I have ran the Fluidamper's and the ATI's never had a problem. Both are better than a stock style damper. For some reason the stock GM 400 dampers don't last like the internal balanced dampers. I won't even run a stock damper on a stock 400 motor because I've had so many of them go bad.

kevind thanks for the input. I'm guessing no further news is good news? I would hope if anybody had a horror story they'd tell it now before I drop off my engine for balancing. Last chance. Anybody?

Thanks
