The transmission mount for a V6 car is different than for a V8 car. The physical location on the transmission is the same, but the mount is different. The steel plate on top of the rubber is long, offsetting the rubber about 5 inches or so to one side.

My factory crossmember was the same way. It was a 200ci/350th combo. IIRC there was a bracket that bolted the trans mount and catalytic converter together on the offset crossmember pad. It was a funky set up. I ended up going by dixiemontecarlodepot and picking up a crossmember from an 83 SS along with it's larger diameter driveshaft (larger than my v6 driveshaft anyway).

Slide it in the car. If the pad sits in the middle of the tunnel, you're good to go.

Mine looked just like this one that came out of my sons 2.8 F-body. It's kinda hard to tell in the pic just how small the diameter is. And yes this one joined the scrap pile also.
