Had the bu dyno'd again yesterday. The changes from last are the roller tipped summit rockers, bigger air cleaner from an 80 with 2 snorkles, stock-type mufflers place of the glasspacks, and the 200r4/3.73s

The 108 run was after i made the headers, the 111 run was the old cleaner with the lid flipped(which prompted the new air cleaner), and 116 run was yesterday. Couldnt start as low with the 200r4 jumping into 2nd gear

Now you need to take it to a track or run the specs through a simulator and see how it does.

The torque numbers grew more than the HP numbers.

It looks like you stopped the runs at about 4500 rpm?

I was at the track firday night. My best run from about a month ago right after the rockers is [email protected] prior to that was 17.14@79 which tied my best time with the old th350c/2.41s. Friday night my best was [email protected]. The only difference between the 90 night and 94 night are the mufflers. Which i dont think really slowed it down it was just the night.

One thing you might look at doing is finding a early 4.3 with out the center balance shaft and using that as a V6 foundation. Get you hands on a set of later 96 and newer vortec heads and a good comp hyd roller and a edelbrock intake and a 600cfm carb and you will be very happy with the results. Everything you have now on the 229 will bolt up to the bigger 4.3. I did one back in the mid 90s for a bracket racer. 4.3 block bored .060 with a custom hyd roller flat top pistons and a set of ported 229 heads (before the vortec were out) with a holley single plain intake. Put that in a 82 chevy S-10 with a power glide and a ford 9inch with 4.33 gears. Best pass ever was 13.24 at 104mph at the division 5 finals. Most time is ran mid to low 50s with the summer air. Great motor and lot of power over smaller 229. The 4.3 is a even fire motor and the 85-87 trucks came with a 4 barrel carb and a HEI distributor. Their are lots of new parts on the market for the V6s now that were not their when I built my motor. With a little work is should make around 300hp.

267 cubic inches is what a 4.3 V6 is stock. Its the same as your 229 except bigger. Hate to see all that fab work on the headers going to waste. Everything bolts up that you have now trans converter water pump ext.

A 4.3 is a 262. A 267 is a 4.4L v8
