Notching the rear frame rails for bigger tires?????

I am new to the g-body i have always been a s-10 man but the kids come along and needed more room I have read about people notching the rear frame rails on the 78/80 malibu i was just wondering how big of tire and wheel you can use and the back spacing on a 15 in wheel if any body has done it any help would be great.

Jason, do a search on this. there are a ton of posts on notching with many pics and tire/wheel combos.
