Yah I should have clarified the interchange into the 68-72 was a dead bolt in with only a u-joint mod...NOT the 1978-1987 g-body car. Sorry. That did not come across clear at all in the thread.

Yopu will have to do all the same mods to the 10 bolt MONTE CARLO rear as you would the 12 bolt from the same 68 -72 era as stated. Jim

No such beast. 1972 was a 8.2 chevy c-clip rear. IF it does have a 8.5 it will be from a 1971 1972 skylark or cutlass. The 10 bolt 8.5 from the 1971 1972 buick and olds will fit the monte carlo dead on with a u-joint modification. Jim

It could also be a B.O.P. 8.2 with 27-spline bolt-in axles. '72 was an odd-ball year for GM. That was a strike year, and I believe there was a major fire at one of the plants that year also that resulted in Chevrolet installing pretty much whatever it took to get cars off the assembly line.

Either way, the Monte rear would fit the G-body with the aftermarket 12-bolt swap control arms and moving the spring perches to the tops of the axle tubes.

1970 was the strike year and you they put tempest rears in some of the Chevy cars Monte carlo and El camino I have seem them in. Jim

Just wanted it to be clear NOT trying to power play at all. So watch out for those 1970 cars they could have anything under there...lol. Jim
