gonna stick with the 2.73s for now. this is the only thing i plan to do to the 7.5. anything else and i plan to start with something stronger

So yes all you would need to do is remove your 2.73 gear from the open carrier and bolt the ring gear to the posi and reinstall the carrier and double check the backlash. .005-.010 will be right on for your specs. Good luck . Jim

Got a 7.5 out of a monte ss posi w/ 3.73's if you can change the pinion bearings you will be in business. $100 you come get it, axles, housing, carrier, gears, control arms and even the lug nuts. No brakes though. lmk

would an 8.5" 10 bolt from a 72 monte carlo bolt in?

what are some stock options that are pretty easy to get under a malibu? no welding preferred

No such beast. 1972 was a 8.2 chevy c-clip rear. IF it does have a 8.5 it will be from a 1971 1972 skylark or cutlass. The 10 bolt 8.5 from the 1971 1972 buick and olds will fit the monte carlo dead on with a u-joint modification. Jim

Being in the realm of '68-'72, it will bolt in. Just make sure it's treated as that year range of axle, and not '73-'77.
