t5 just reminded me make sure your wires aren't arching off the headers or a split in the wires somewhere.

you could try moving the wires over 1 spot either way instead of pulling the dizzy. Are the lifters set too tight on some? Is there any lifter noise?
went through and re-adjusted the lifters on the only side i messed i with. Took them all to clatter and then did a 1/4 turn tighten. Tried to drive the car and it will go but if you try to give it gas fast it will spit back and cut off. Also checked the plug wires and they seem to be just fine

Really at a lose at this point. Any one have any new ideas before I try moving the dizzy a couple of teeth?

Ill check it out and make sure they are on in the right order. never had them off the cap but anything is possible.

Does anyone think the carb could be the problem right now? Like maybe its was damaged in some way from the flames spitting back through it when the timing was way off? Its a Holley 4160.

have you checked the float levels, power valve, acc pump?
No cant say that I have. Not really 100% sure how to check it all since I am still in the process of learning. Any suggestions on how I go about checking them?

there will be a sight plug on each of the fuel bowls, take one out at a time and with the car running the fuel level should just be below the hole for the sight plug. If it isnt you will have to adjust the level with the needle and seat, and they are at the top of each fuel bowl.

Adjusting Float level>> http://www.holley.com/data/TechService/Technical/Carburetor%20Tech%20Info.pdf if you tighten the nut it raises the fuel level.
Unless your Carb is older than 1992 it will have a Check Valve that prevents the Power Valve from blowing during a backfire through the Carb.
