Well, I am pretty sure it is a TH350. The TH250 is identical to the TH350. The only diference is that there is an adjustment band screw behind the oil lines which mine does not have so it has to be a TH350. This car was setup for drag racing so I am sure that the vacum governor and the manual modulator was left off intentional. Now that it will be driven in the street I will hook these up and see if it fixes the problem. To answer the question as to where it shifts, it is shifting at 5,000 RPMS. Not suitable for street use. Thanks for all the help and if anyone has more tips please keep them coming as I need all the help I can...

I'm thinking that just hooking vacuum to the vacuum modulator may fix your problem. Especially if the modulator is an adjustable modulator. But, if you are going to run it on the street, I'd still hook up the detent cable as well.

I think the transmission is trashed. I hooked up the vacum modulator and now the car does not shift hard and i am still having the problem of not staying in high gear. It seems that the warmer it gets the woese it gets. I believe that it is slipping in 3rd at cruising speed. It feels like it desingages and the rpms go up but when I get on the throttle it goes into 2nd and takes off like a bat out of hell but I can't cruise it.

if it slips after it warms up it is most likely a cracked case.

What? Could it not just be a bad seal on the piston or even the clutches and steels going out?

I'm not going any further with suggestions because it could be a lot of things. Since you don't really know what you have inside that transmission, I would suggest a rebuild (that way you know what you have).

But, if you're going to run it on the street, you need to get the vacuum modulator hooked up and working correctly, and also should be using a detent cable.

The vacuum modulator tells the transmission when the engine is at WOT and the detent cable gives it throttle position.
