yea,run the stocker, get all the bugs worked out(their will be)car dialed in and drive it for a while and then when the time and money comes around if you still want to try that out see if its whats cracked up to be.us what you have in hand now only to put money else where where it's needed.

X2 I bet it will work just fine on your street motor. Just make sure there is no play in the shaft, and that the advance mechanism moves freely.

Yea, right now the money is going into the heads...and it's a lot lol
who's doing the work?

I'm not sure yet. Got two quotes for about 5-600 bucks for a full valve job and cleaning (very rusty). And since then I found out I need to do more work to them... :(

i'm running a mallory hyfire 6AL box with an HEI dist. i THINK the dist is a proform, and it has a 50,000V coil. i plan to eventually switch to a mallory dist and coil, but for now, the HEI is staying. hasn't given me any problems yet.

I m running a Taylor HEI distrbutor on car mayme will add some brand of ignition box......but I did run into that I couldnt change out the vacuum canister because a factory size wont fit the aftermarket version but I was able to tune the Taylor with the vacuum can that came on it the point of this story is an aftermarket can be real nice but a rebuilt factory HEI with upgraded parts was more easy to tune my motor on that weekend we fired it up until I could call Taylor about HEI on monday to get a handle on theirs..........................I think its nice to have both a nice aftermarket one and a nice rebuilt factory with various vacuum cans to tune an engine at various vacuum ranges if need be.........

I have been 10.60's with the street/strip DUI but I started to have spark issues in the higher rpm's. I'm probably going to switch over to MSD soon but the DUI is great for a mild street/strip car.

I can't knock MSD. It's great RACING stuff. In my experience it's overkill & just doesn't seem to last long on a DD...

what about going cheap and going with a street fire msd distributor? which will work with your msd box and work with your stock distributor parts like the cap and etc.

imo 7 series and up is over kill on a street strip vehicle. 6 series was designed for street strip.
i have 2 msd pro billets one in my wagon(468) since 02 and one in my 75 K20(383) that has been on 3 different engines and 4 different vehicles. 383 has a 6al 468 runs a 6a both run blasster ss coils

better spark best power you can make and the most effcient it will be... by the butt o meter being able to fire .060-.080 gaps vvsd .035-.040 gaps and not foul is very good. adn increase throttle and part throttle areas.
not saying that MSD is the only option out there. summits stuf spec very similar to MSD stuff 8)
