I have a SBC 406 shortblock assembled with forged flattop pistons block is stock decked and was wondering how much compression will I have with 64cc and 70cc heads using FelPro 1014(.039" thick) and will there be a big difference in using the 70cc heads from the 64cc I have always used 64cc...

I got it repaired with the cleanup tap,THANKS for all the helpful information!!!!! ;) ;) ;)

Will change back to the other Champion plugs,I hope the tap will fix my problem or I will have to remove head for a machine shop job. :cry: :cry: :cry:

Do I have to remve the head,does the sparkplug tap just screw in and where can I get one?

I have a set of Edelbrock RPM heads on my SBC 400 engine and I was changing the sparkplugs on them and when I got to the number 8 plug which I removed with no problem and when I try to insert the new plug in the head it is going in crooked not straight like it suppose to go,the plug will not...

Yeah I did one of the studs but it still wont start.

I have a NEW Com Cams roller tip fuelpump pushrod(part#CCA-4609)and I cant seem to get the stud threaded into the front of the block,I have tried on 3 SBC engines but the stud will not thread in the block but if I put it in backwards it will start,I contacted Comp Cams and they sent me another...

A guy has a SBC 400 bored .30 over(406) that is a stock rebuild with less than 500 miles on it,10/10 crank with new rod and main bearings,stock SBC 400 rods with stock .30 over plain dish pistons with molly rings,how much is this shortblock worth it is a 2 bolt main 509 SBC 400 block?THANKS

NONE TAKEN ,I been working on SBC engines for 20+ years(guess I'm getting OLD)it was not the valves to tight but the timing was to LOW bumped the timing up and it breaks the tires loose at a roll when passing gear kicks in,but still have a LITTLE chatter but will live with it,hope it stays this...

I pulled the Hyd lifters and cam,the cam had a lobe that is wore down and two that was wearing,I installed a NEW Comp Cams Hyd Roller Retro fit cam and lifters got the engine to run still had some clatter so I tighten the valves some more and no clatter,but now I'm getting some popping and...
