Yes the weights are with the aluminum motor. The battery is still in the front all the AC stuff and electric fans added some weight back. I changed from a all steel 496,Muncie and a 12 bolt to a all aluminum 574,TKO 600 with the scatter sheild, block saver plate, 9 inch rear. I know the rear end...
Why kind of springs do think I need for My car here are My wheel weights with Me In it full of fuel.
LF 1080 RF 980
LR 824 RR 792
Total is 3680 Rear % is 43.9
I changed for a all steel BBC to a all aluminum BBC And My front is almost topped out it is way to high. Here is a pick of how it is now.
A 12 bolt car and a 8.5 from a 71 to the time the went to a 7.5 Nova use the same wheel bearings. I have taken alot of Impala housings cut them down and used the nova ends on them. I think even the 8.2 10 bolt uses the same wheel bearing. Is the angle of the top arms the same on the Impala rear...
I have done a bunch of Ford ends on 12 bolts and have done some quick change rearends. I have bought the billet ones and also went to the junkyard and cut the ends of the housings and reused them. I'm in Queens working If You have any questions PM and I'll send You My number.
I have knocked them on with a hammer I used a block of wood. I got a tool to remove and install them and it made so much easier. On the old 283 and 327's I just drill and tap the end of the crank.
It needs to be around 3.5" to 4" I have a 8" wheel on the back of mine it has 3.5" back space. I don't know if a 9.5" will fit without mods to the wheel tubs or frame. unless it sticks out of the 1/4 .
I would run it I don't think a change in compression that small is going to make anything that You will be able to feel. The P-V should be ok with a cam that size with 1.5 or 1.6 rockers.
Are the Strange more adjustable than the QA1. I have run several types of shocks on My dirt cars over the Years and I know that there are big gains to be had. I have some cheap Carquest shocks on it now. My best 60' was 1.60 when I went and tested before something in the clutch broke.
I am in the process of update some things on My Malibu rollcage, frame notch and tubular A frames. I changed motors last summer I went from a all steel BBC to a all aluminum BBC and My front end is up to high and the car drives funny like the front end stays "topped out". I am wanting to go to...
I have a MSD box with a 2 step and You can set it and when You release the button it goes back to the high rpm switch. I haven't been using it I just hold at what ever RPM I want with the gas pedal.
I'm not sure about the ones in the pic but I have had to butt weld them in the past. The last set I had were tappered. I have also went to the junk yard and cut 5" or 6" off a ford rear (to get the axle ends) and welded back on. The axle bearings are pressed on a Ford axle and bolt to the 4 bolt...
I tried to let of the nitrous between shifts about 15 years ago never could get it to work. It made the car very radical. I always just use a push button and hold the pedal to the floor. I haven't used nitrous with My current motor and trans but when or if I can get My car to hook good on the...
I don't know of any stock style upper A arm that works with the Nova/Camaro lower. I have always ran the tubular ones You might find something that will work or You could move the top A arm mount.
The TKO I have now doesn't shift like the Muncie I had But it has less than 100 miles on it the Muncie had been in My car for the last 5 or 6 years. I went to the track last night for some shake down passes and tore a clutch and/or throwout bearing out. Did manage a 7.18 @ 99MPH in the 1/8 with...
I have done what You are trying to do. I just ream the spindles out for big ball joints I also use Pinto/Mustang spindles. If You use Nova/Camaro lowers You will have to change upper A arms to. This will make Your front end wider but will also move the front wheels foward about 1" I think and it...
I had a 70 Chevelle 12 bolt in My Malibu with 5.5" back space and it rubbed the 1/4 panel if in any kind of a bind. I don't see a 10" wheel being under the 1/4's on a Malibu.
