It is a suitable bellhousing when used with the proper length straight fork (14066235; the 1985 Corvette fork is too short). The lower pushrod pocket is in the same 3D space as the OEM fork.
If you need have insufficient pedal throw, then the fork is too long, , or the upper clutch pushrod hole is too far up the pedal, or you are using the wrong bellcrank.
If you are still using the Corvette fork ballstud, you also need to replace the ballstud with the shorter ballstud used in most other car applications of that period.
What fork are you using?
Has the hole in the clutch pedal been welded and redrilled?
Is the fork properly engaged in the release bearing?
If you have only 1 hole in the lower arm of the bellcrank, you may not have the correct bellcrank. Do you have pictures?
