FI 305 and 4L60E???

What kind of FI? TBI? If so, there were trucks with 305 TBI and a 4l60E, so if can put in a new wiring harness for the FI, you should be able to do it (using the truck ECM and wiring). Probably some details like the VSS that you will have to solve.
TBI. The 305's from a 89 caprice and the trans i have no idea what its from. I was trying to get a 700r4 and now after deeper investigation,I bought a 4L60E. I think wiring harnesses are expensive.
Got a u-pull-it near you? Our local one sells the harness for pretty cheap. It is just a real PITA to take the time to pull it out all in one piece. Also to make sure no one cut it up before you start. If you find a 305 TBI pickup, say 93-95 model years with a gear ratio that is close to yours, you should be able to use that.
If you already have the motor & setup, I think you'll be much better off using a 700R4 of similar year, all the connections should already be there... besides the mechanical speedo hookup, but you can put in an electric speedo for that 8)
