How you gonna go at it? I JUST put the g-damn motor in, and I don't want to rip it out, nor do I want to have trans fluid all over the place. What a f-ing mess.

I'm going to try to take some of the nose off the starter gear. If all goes well, I may not need to do a flexplate job. If it doesn't, I'll spend the extra $35 for a new gear AND the extra $100 or so for a balanced flexplate.

Flexplate

I Just Put Mine In Too, But I Was Always Told If Your Gonna Do It Do It Right! So I'm Going To Pull The Trans Back And Change It, Dont Grind The Nose Of The Starter Down! Trust Me You Will End Up Spending More Money On A New Starter Been There Done That All Last Week. When It All Done And Over You'll Say I'm Glad I Done It Right Instead Of Taking Short Cuts. I Don't Know About You But I Don't Want To Go Through It Again, So Thats Why I Say Go Ahead And Do It Right The First Time That Way You Won't Have To Do It Again :)

With a little nip of the nose, the grinding is gone. Still, it's a temporary fix...

If the flexplate is bent, it more than likely is going to kill your pump and front bushing in your trans. It may also cause a vibratiion that will eventually crack the bellhousing on the trans. Yank the trans and replace it. I wouldn't chance it. Your $50 flexplate may cost you a trans and converter.
