In keeping with Doobers suggestion, try a heavy glove when you move the distributor. (like a welding gauntlet) It will lessen the likely hood of you "conducting". Other thoughts: take the coil cover off and make sure the ground strap and screws holding the coil in are secure. Might want to check the contact to the rotor from the coil too and make sure it isn't compromised or burnt.
