The Regal will use the same suspension parts as the El Camino, but the Regal will be easier to make hook since it has a shorter wheel base and you will have a little more weight on the back tires just because of the trunk and back window being further back in the car.

Ride height is the first priority to startt with.. You can install all the top notch shocks, coils overs, control arms etc and the car still won't work well..
Select a desired ride height or stance you want then go from there..

The importance of the ride height is dependent on what rear end is in the car too. The cars with a factory 8.5 G-body rear end like to be lower than ones with most of the aftermarket 9" housings. Some of the new rear ends coming out have multiple adjustment holes for the upper and lower control arms and you can set the ride height pretty much wherever you want and still make the car work.

This is true,, but for most all the guys on here they are working with what they have under the car now be it a 7.5, 8.5,12 bolt or even a plain 9".. None of which offer the hole locations as you pointed out.. Standard GM equipment will require the person to set the ride hit by the springs in the car, hess forth trying to get the LCA's as parrallel to the ground as possible which by doing this should get the UCA's into a slight downards rake..

Yes but you still have to take into account which rear end housing is in the car. The reason is because any of the "popular" (cheaper) housings have the upper control arms raised up so much that it affects how hard the car hits the tires when you start lowering the car. If you take a car with a G-body 8.5 in it and slam it on the ground the suspension geometry is going to be pretty good. If you do the same to a car with a 9" housing with the upper ears raised way up the car is going to hit the tire really really hard if you have any power. At the point when you lower a car to get the lower control arms parallel to the ground, if you have a Moser 12 bolt, Quick Performance 9" (or many of the other aftermarket housings that have been available for years), the upper control arm will be at a severe angle downwards, often placing the instant center close to the front of the lower control arm.

Kevin you are correct,,,,,,,BUT if the guy or people don't have the raised upper mounts this is where they run into the problem.. Yes many of the newer rears out there have these mods built in,, but for the guys that can't afford to buy into the Moser,QP 9", or even TRZ's product and are on a tight budget they have to work with what they have and in most case's lowering the car with the springs is the easier and cheaper way for they people to make them hook..

Hhhhmmm, kinda missing my point aren't ya? Any of the guys that really need to worry about the suspension geometry have already swapped to a beefier rear end, and unless they got lucky enough to find an 8.5" out of a G-body 442 or GN they will probably have one of the housings with the goofed up upper control arm mounts. If you are running 13s these cars will hook with just a good set of tires on them.
