Thanks cutlassracer and cherp 22 for all the help. But i now have changed ideas. i have a 85 regal now. so what can u guys do about this one
CutlassRacer said:The importance of the ride height is dependent on what rear end is in the car too. The cars with a factory 8.5 G-body rear end like to be lower than ones with most of the aftermarket 9" housings. Some of the new rear ends coming out have multiple adjustment holes for the upper and lower control arms and you can set the ride height pretty much wherever you want and still make the car work.
CutlassRacer said:Yes but you still have to take into account which rear end housing is in the car. The reason is because any of the "popular" (cheaper) housings have the upper control arms raised up so much that it affects how hard the car hits the tires when you start lowering the car. If you take a car with a G-body 8.5 in it and slam it on the ground the suspension geometry is going to be pretty good. If you do the same to a car with a 9" housing with the upper ears raised way up the car is going to hit the tire really really hard if you have any power. At the point when you lower a car to get the lower control arms parallel to the ground, if you have a Moser 12 bolt, Quick Performance 9" (or many of the other aftermarket housings that have been available for years), the upper control arm will be at a severe angle downwards, often placing the instant center close to the front of the lower control arm.
