throttle cable question

im running the early 80's chevy truck throttle cable on my 4500. i noticed im getting full throttle but its delayed on opening. ive tried adjusting it but it seems like the cable has some friction causing the delay. any ideas. im almost tempted to go to a rod and new pedal assembly? suggestions

You could go with an adjustable cable also.

i ended up making a new pedal assembly. i bent the rod out more towards the driver seat, then I cut an old pad mount off a brake pedal. I turned the brake pedal mount and welded it to the rod. Now I have full throttle. Thanks for the reply guys
