I think so. I'm pretty sure it is the 2-peice. It's in my truck with a TH400 bolted to it, so kinda hard to tell. It's been a long time since I messed with small blocks, but I thought they went to centerbolt in 86 but 1 piece seal in 87?? Ah don't matter anyways.....

I'll probly be getting the car after Xmas. Seller put in the new windshield, just has to pull the engine. That should take about a whole 30 minutes to do that. Also needs to get a bunch of parts for it too, including the 4-speed column.

Sucks that winter is here, want to get the car going, but then don't want to drive it in all the road salt NYS uses. The car is CLEAN for being here almost it's entire life, don't want it rusting anymore than what's on it. Already have to fix two small holes in the quarter. Need to get my cowl hood too!!!!

What 4 speed and bell are in the car now?

Does the car have linkage or a slave in it now?

All stock right now, so whatever they came factory with. It probly wont be for awhile for the swap, cant sell stuff off my truck, and that is where the funds come from. For now just might use the transmission in it now and take bets how long it will last.

They came with 3- and 4-speed Saginaws, which are 10-spline.

Get a LS1 T-56 and the adaptor plate

You have to buy a new clutch and flywheel anyway.

And you will be able to use the linkage and bell you already have.

From what I've read the T-56 isn't very strong. Not to mention more money than the TKO. What sold me on the TKO is a guy on youtube who beats the ever livin' crap out of one and it's still going. Search 540Merlin, he has a bunch of vids. If the transmission can hold up to what he is doing, it will outlast the car for what I'm doing....

I've had both the T56 and the TKO600. The T56 didn't shift as good the stock shifter was horrible at best(06 GTO) I put a Hurst on it It shifter better but still not good it also rattled. I think alot of the T56 shifters rattle for some reason. The TKO600 in My Malibu shifts great and the shifter doesn't rattle. I also had alot of problems out of the T56 that was in My bone stock 06 GTO. The T56 broke so easy in My GTO I would never have tried one in My Malibu.

The T-56 might be OK for a small block or a stock big block, mine won't be crazy but will be more than stock. I originally wanted a Super T-10 or Muncie, but both are getting hard to find/expensive, and for a couple bucks more, you can have a brand new one. Little more, and you can have an OD transmission that's stronger than both.
