Anyone put "gears" behind a 3.8?

Just curious, looking at a 86 with a V6. If GM held true this will have some horrible ratio like 2.29 or something. Anyone try a set of 3.73z behind a stockish motor?

3.8 info source, Buick that is

Was surfing last night while all the skiers were crashing on the downhill in Vancouver. Found great info if you search "Buick 4.1" vs "Buick 3.8". Go figure.

    Cranking Problems

The last couple posts are correct. Did you pull the wire off the alternator while doing the parasitc draw test? If not try that. We assume the battery is in the engine bay, right? Do you have any relays that you added to the car? In your fisrt post it had an Optima and now an Interstate...

Trailing arms for a road car?

Just thought I would update. I was parting a Elco and noticed it had beefy rear springs, don't know what brand. The wire diameter is bigger then the Moogs and they a progressive design. So I stuck them in. Ride height stayed with-in half an inch. The car now handles more like the 2 bar...

    Burnout with a 400

I break them loose in 2nd, then shift to 3rd. As I hear the r's start to drop, sticky tire, release the line lock and roll out in 3rd. Another thing is go back to neutral before you stage. Agian, I rolled up in 3rd, downshift to neutral, blip then throttle once or twice, back into first and...

    Double Adj. Shock Settings

For what it's worth , I "converted" my 24 position to your 9 position settings. front Comp 7 Rebound 3 rear Comp 5 Rebound 2 I am trying to find how leaving off a trans brake effects these setting, if at all. They worked for me almost too good, could not hold the car on the line below above...

    Footbrake vs T-brake shock settings

I now have a baseline for leaving off my left foot. Next is to start playing with the trans brake. Would you suggest just leaving them (settings) where they are and going from there. Or is there a trend you found when going T-brake. I am thinking stiffer all around would be the way to go...

    FRONT TIRE SIZE

205/75-15 x 2 , they end up being about 26.5" on the car. That is what is on the cutlass below.

Trailing arms for a road car?

Tommy, the car handles pretty well for what it is. Maybe the near 50/50 weight distribution and larger rear tire helped? With the dual bars, it is much more stable in turns and when going straight. On bumps it does tramp more in the rear. No problem with oversteer until it gets wet out, then...

Proper settings for aligning a drag car gbody.

I have a local racer align my stuff. He runs low 8z in the 1/4 on a stock suspension car so I defer to him. He jacks the front of the car about an inch and you have to sit in the car while he aligns it. Also wants the car"as raced", besides the driver being in it, fueled, tire pressure etc etc.

Spherical rod ends vs. urethane vs. rubber bushings

I acually crank them down hard first with stock bolts, car loaded and level of course, the remove the stock bolt. Turn the big washer up top by hand until the cinch nut hits or zero lash, then go 1/4 to1/2 turn. On the bottom, more or less do the same except it get a nylock. Everything is...

Spherical rod ends vs. urethane vs. rubber bushings

For a true driver the following has worked for me and many customers: Out back: Boxed lowers with poly bushings Stock upper (unboxed) with poly in one end and stock rubber ( Camaro are supposed to be stiffer?) in the other. Out front: Polys bushings set like pushrods, 1/4 past zero lash, held...
