QA1 rear 12 Way Single Adjustable shock

I also make mine at 6 "clicks". Only have had the car out 2 usefull days at the track, about 10 runs. Car weighs 3250# and runs 10-OH@131 mph with 1.44 60 ft. It is a stock type suspension. Even has a TRZ part in it. :D It's the Olds in the lower right.

    I need shocks and springs.

Gabriel VST or Monroe Sensatrac are good driver type shocks. Also check your local parts store, ask who make thier "house" brand. I know Carquest are KYBz. There is a chart in the suspension section for MOOG springs which should help you choose a spring set. Maybe pick something that was for...

Trailing arms for a road car?

"Looks like your suspension tuning is a little more in the "big bar soft spring" direction than mine." I noticed the same thing. What's your weigh? Yours has got to crush my portly 3960# with driver  . I would be interested in a source/part # for softer poly body bushings. I would...

Trailing arms for a road car?

Thanks for responding. I think we will have to agree to disagree as I have had nothing but positive results boxing the lowers. If the OP does not mind a hijack, what are the specs on your car? I believe my Wagon is similar and would like to do a side by side to see what you have done...

Solid instead of poly in upper/lower C/A

X2 on solids. No No No. Here is my formula: Boxed lowers with Poly greased to excess with synthetic brake grease. Non-boxed upper with poly in the arms, stock rubber (order for Camaro 1le) in the rear ears. Should be fine for your HP/weight. LS6 Tommy, sent a PM a while back about an...

Trailing arms for a road car?

Norm, not to argue but discuss. Have you had all those things happen by just boxing the lowers and putting in Polys? I did it on my 83 Wagon and loved it with none of what you mention. Now I would agree that poly only up top is bad ( Upper Control Arms) though. I leave the tops unboxed and...

Trailing arms for a road car?

If you access to or can weld, boxing the stock lowers is the best bang for the buck. Add poly bushings and 95% of wheel hop goes away and the car handles "better".

Frame bracing ????'s for full notch

Jordan81, no ARB per se. I adapted an Fbody bar to the rear. Read here: http://www.maliburacing.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=75929 As far as wheel back spacing. The notch is the pictures on my GP. It is a 68 12bolt with aluminum drums (they are thicker). With 6.5 back spacing on a 15 x10...

Frame bracing ????'s for full notch

There are pics of 2 different cars ( Grand Prix and Cutlass) that I posted. Not a rollcage but a rollbar. But to answer your question, the pic of the rollbar is in the Cutlass that got the "bumper" brace also. They don't leave much more level then this!

Frame bracing ????'s for full notch

boyzbad, "Everything behind the springs is along for the ride." I used to feel the same way, but now know better. I did some testing on a bare frame and also road testing. Adding a small brace helps these cars alot. A small tubular or square tube at the bumper mounts really tightens up the...

    Rearend not turning freely

If not dragging brakes it could also be a u-joint, assuming it is still attached. The sharper the angle of the joint, rear hanging vs at ride height, the more you will feel it. That's normal. It would take a minute or 2 to pop the straps off at the yoke and double check. This would also...

    Advice would be appreciated

From what i understand, dropped spindles are a no-no on a drag car. I would think it would effect lower arm alginment , wheel travel on the way down. I just mess with stock type stuff, but was told not to use spindles on it either.

    A-body 12 bolt, sphericals, and UCA's

No problem. As long as it could be made either long or short enough everything else will be fine. I did have one small issue with the TRZ bushing, it was still ever so slightly loose when installed. Could be I just got a thinner casting knowing GM tolerances. Walked around Home Depot with...

    A-body 12 bolt, sphericals, and UCA's

I have a 12 bolt rear out of a 68 Chevelle that has been in both a 79 Grand Prix and is presently in 78 Cutlass. I have Metco arms that are spherical at the frame mounting point but I just crawled under the car and they are square to the mount. So a standard bushing looks like it would/should...

Frame bracing ????'s for full notch

Before cutting mine I added new solid body bushings and tacked and piece of angle to the inside of the frame. Not even done cutting here and you can see how thin it gets! I then put in a brace like you have drawn from spring pocket to spring pocket. I would have prefered to do an X there...

Grand Cherokee steering box in G-Body???

I have read that the Stops in the Fbody box are not right for a gbody. They are supposed to hit lock before the wheel is fully turned. Only effects parking and u-turns. Anyone know for sure?
