I'd be down for attacking the harness, especially if it doesn't affect the price of the motor too much (or was just plain included with the motor). Worst case scenario I could still have it done in the end if I feel in over my head 8)

Did you try unplugging the blower motor? Wires grounding is never a good thing, quickest way to a fire if there is no fuse/fusible link considering the amperage capability of the battery.

Just looking at roundabout prices here, maybe a quick rundown of the parts you've used (carb? EFI? headers? mounts? parts for a specific trans setup?). I won't be doing one for a while I figure, and I thought it'd be nice to get some numbers from the guys that've done it so far.
