Unless you have the budget to also upgrade the trans (or can keep your foot out of it) you may want to reconsider at the moment. Cleaning the engine compartment like grizwald said will probably be a good starter. I'm guessing you don't have emissions there... if you want to build the 4.3 you...
You should be able to just tighten the bolts up. If the rods are loose I believe you can replace the bushings. The bushings on the shifter end are rubber, grommet-like, so I'm not sure what you could do there.

Now the $600 question, what manifolds or headers will a)fit a G-Body with b)mechanical linkage??
Anybody have an inkling at whether or not they'd fit a G-Body? It'd be a nice alternative to headers, but the fit looks extremely tight, if even possible.
