I've done some thinking about this in the past & I'm just curious if anyone has done it.
I'm talking about taking some of the original parts (bulkhead connector for the engine/lights, possibly fuse panel) and rewiring it using a barebones-style wiring kit from one of the aftermarket companies...
It sounds very redneck, but I couldn't get mine to prime one time after it sat for quite a while. I took the line off the carb, and applied suction until I had gas coming out of the line. After that it fired right up.
Looks great! I've always touted Sherman & Assoc., when I was working at the salvage yards those are about the only guys I saw delivering sheetmetal... probably didn't hurt that their HQ was only about an hour's drive from me. Way I understand is they use original GM tooling where they can.
I'd prefer PCV over a regular breather... if there's a chance you have any blowby, it tends to try to push any oily air floating in the crankcase out those breathers, and then you have an oily engine :P The breather I have on one side has a rubber line venting somewhere besides on top of the...
That's what I'm kind of up in the air about, the next time I take my motor apart it will be to bore/stroke it (cylinders are ready for a boring) and it would be getting a bigger cam. Since I already have a set of Vortecs, I don't know if I would want to a)just upgrade the springs/studs and...
What he was saying though is as you increase voltage, unless you run a higher resistance at the same point the current draw will be higher.
Take a 55w bulb at "12v" - aka 14.4v - its resistance will be about 3.75 ohms. To get the same light output from that circuit the resistance will have to...
Could you elaborate some on what you did with the heads? I'm thinking of trying a Hot Cam sometime and I wasn't sure if I could squeeze by with the stock springs and 1.5 rockers or not.
I'm not sure if that's it or not, but you can buy a kit that looks identical to that. Mixed reviews on the system, but I didn't really have any issues putting mine in on a lowered car.

I was going to say anymore you can find a carbed Vortec intake almost as easily as a traditional SBC intake, but these guys already proved that
The Vortecs would definitely be a better out of the box solution for not a lot of head work for a fairly mild setup, they'll make a good deal...
Revisiting this since I'm bored and don't have much else I can think of to look at currently... where did you see the pictures of this Monte at? Often if I have a starting point I can track my way back to the source & go from there.
I did it this way when I worked at the junkyard... similar anyway... I don't remember how we fished the wire through but I don't think it was via heat.
The tool you posted is more for stuff like the clips on window cranks.
*edit*
Hello old thread, my bad  I'm looking for stuff on trim...
Those wheels are gonna look great on it!! :D Shame you couldn't use an LS1-style intake, would've looked much cleaner imo, I doubt there would be an major difference in power.
