he has the car parked in his welding shop(pulling the motor for an autopsy), so i'll be able to get over there monday, kool? and if he's got the motor opened up, i'll snap a few pics of whatever's busted(ouch!).

Here is a 27x10" ET Street (same as a 255-60) on a 15x8 w/ 3.75" Backspace.... I would say 4" would be ideal, while a 4.5" wheel would rub on my car:

I run a 255/60/15 on an 8" rim with 31/2 back space no problem at all,does rub anywhere. Brad

Mine rubbed on the wheel lip when I tried the 3.5" backspace, but mine also sits lower in the rear, so that is probably why.

megabu what supershops did you work at i managed the one in wichita kansas until they went under in 96

well those were the days i went to management training class in reno managed the store for about 7 months after class and then we packed it up..i loved just picking parts off the shelf that i needed instead of todays mail order b.s.
