It's has a new alternator and a battery, when you take the positive cable off it dies.It does have constant current to the 12v post on the alternator with the key offf. It does have electric fans and a ingnition box also. the battery is in the trunk also. Thanks for the help.

is the alternator actually hooked up correctly? Is it a 1 wire or more wire style? Also if it has more than one wire does is the excitor working to make the alternator charge? And lastly is the starter wired to all of it correctly, so that the circuit is completed correctly?
I know its a lot of questions, but I had the same problem last year with all new parts and newly rewired car and it is just a matter of check through all the wires haha

I hate to say it, bu you probably killed the alternator when you took the positivie cable off with it running.

I've always heard that if you take the positive cable off and the cars dies it's not charging.

when you remove the poitive battery wire you open the circuit. It will die. Your alternator charges your battery and your battery runs the car. that is why a battery with a dead cell won't run a car even with a good alternator. but a low or dead battery will as long as the alternator keeps butting more than 12 volts into the BATTERY.
