One thing for anyone in the future that may be doing this. The pinion and carrier came out of a 87 firebird and going into my 79 malibu. The pinion bearing between the two cars is different. You must use the pinion bearing from the malibu.

Also use the crush sleeve and pinion shims FROM the malibu with the malibu pinion bearing.
