Engine has been pulled back out due to clearance issues with oilpan.
The engine would not rock back far enough to get the transmission in as the oilpan was making contact with the crossmember.
Ill be at least a week figuring this out. Plus, I have a very busy week at work.

Maybe if we blow some of that 'Holy Smoke ' on the front crossmember it will reinforce it!!!

poping that clutch with a big block and a weakend front x member I dont know if that was the right thing to do. I have never tried anything like that but I can definetly see front end alinment problems after a couple of launches
Let me know how you reinforce it please make sure to post some pics

I was going to weld sheetmetal back in where it was cut out. The only difference is that I have a little more clearance with the oil pan.
I dont think it would be wise to leave it like that. Comments?

Instead of just sheet metal, just bend some 1/8th or 3/16th to fit and weld it back solid. If you do that it will be just as strong as before. some would argue that it might be stronger because of the change of direction. I believe it will be fine.

The crossmember I used was from a later model G-Body. I had to add the frame extension. I think its all in this thread. Everything worked fine.
I also got a new shifter from Keisler for free as they are never going to get the crossmember for our Mailbu correct.

I will be having my local welding shop weld it back solid.
