Pulled dash and door panels only thing left in the interior is the head liner, this is a long term project so no rush.

im interested as well... I was planning on ospho (http://www.ospho.com/) I come from an ironworker family and they have used this stuff for years and you can spray it and it turns the steel back into like fresh black iron... we always just pressure washed it after with a degreaser and painted.... I have used it quite a bit on BBQ pits after fab work and just paint over it and it holds up to those temps should be good for frames...

It's part of the Eastwood chassis kit (about $130 on their site I think). It comes in a spray type bottle (no nozzle, just a lid), but from my experience I wouldn't try a spray nozzle again in a million years. The label says you can use an HVLP, conventional spray nozzle, or just brush it on, I think Eastwood also has their own gun for it. We wound up brushing it on. It starts as a milky white liquid, and turns a fairly thick blue as you're brushing it on (after a minute or so), almost the consistency of regular paint. After 20 minutes (according to the label) it does appear to be a black oxide type finish, and the label calls for a 2nd coat after 20 minutes, but we just went around the frame a couple times until it all looked like it was covered - then a 48 hour cure period.

After, you put a rust inhibitor/primer on, then the chassis black.

Took 85% of what I'll be using suspension-wise off the '81 for the '78 today... just need the steering components and drivetrain (including crossmember, gas tank & radiator) to finish all the exterior stuff that will be switched over. I'm thinking of putting the '81 taillights on the '78 too.
