DERAILED
Have you always lived in MI killer406? I looked because I saw your avatar :roflback: Then I noticed your sig pic, and didn't recall seeing that you were from MI.
I've tossed around the idea of EFI, and I was curious what type of system (if any) it would take to work with the cam I have. It's a Comp XE268H (224º/230º, .477"/.480", 110º LSA). It's just an idea I've had and if I can get a setup for a decent price, it'll hold me over 'til I make the LS plunge.
HEEEEEEEEEEEEY, ain't seen you post in a while
I really like this one... wait... I like a lot of your pictures  Do you have any high res. photos?
How are you securing the pickup tube? I got a nifty little clamp from Jegs that bolts to the pump body and wraps around the tube to keep it from coming out (as opposed to welding).
I'm not sure what the specs are on the older blocks, but the one-piece RMS blocks say something like .003-.0035" is actually the service limit. Mine were close to this, but the main reason I changed my main bearings was because mine were full of crud and just looked really crappy in general...
Yeah, honestly that looks like surface rust for the most part. You should see what I did to replace some of the small holes I have on the '81  (it's a beater so I don't think I spent more than $10-$15 in parts). I mainly did it to keep water out. Yours looks to not be near as bad as...
I've pretty much moved on from the T5 idea personally, I don't want to worry about it blowing up on me when I'm beating on it... the Saginaw/7.5 combo has survived one summer, hopefully it'll make it 'til I can make all my drivetrain upgrades :P
If you're not looking to yank out ALL the wiring and go from scratch I'd put the original stuff back in. If you put a new one in over top of what you already have you could wind up chasing a ghost if you run into electrical issues down the road. Most good aftermarket harnesses have GM colored...
The cluster housing is the same far as I know, just the bracket for the headlight switch changes for the appropriate bezel. I have a bezel from a mid-80s Monte & matching bracket, so right now my wiper switch is just hangin' loose :? I'm still up in the air on what I'm doing for gauges, but...
Yep, I did :) Hours just started cutting back a little at work, I'll have to see if I can come up with some cash another way to maybe get it.
Are they just stock replacements, & is the limited slip the original?
Yeah, iirc Keisler made a shifter to come up in the stock G-Body shifter location. My cars are/were both autos so I'm cutting a hole anyway, I'd prefer to have it further back since I'll have buckets.
I'm guessing that's the original paint. I see the side molding is still there, and the paint is missing from the ends of the filler panel still. I applaud the elbow grease you put into it :awesome:
