Ugh!

No way you could tap the dowels out a bit to get them to contact the bell? I wonder if someone makes longer dowels?

What timing...I just got in from screwing with my dowels. My runout is way out and I will need the offset dowels. Spent over an hour trying to get the last dowel out. Finally had to drill it, grind it and some careful use of a cold chisel and it finally came out.

Manuals are a PITA sometimes!!! :x

Called Quick Time. Got a different person on the phone then when I called Monday. She was much less receptive to the idea of replacement. So I told her I prefered to talk to the other guy ( ROSS). He calls me back during lunch and I explained my problem thoroughly. He suggested longer dowels and stated they could provide an extended pilot bearing.
I politely disagreed and decided to go with the 168T bellhousing. Would thier plan work? Yes. But no thank you.
So Quick Time will take back the bell I bought from Forte and modify it as Forte had done.
Have I really lost anything, no, but I did gain a boatload of knowledge and experience. Would I buy from Quick Time again? I should have in the first place. I do like Forte though.. they sure do try to help and they had the modified bell to begin with.
So perhaps the week of Halloween I should have what I need to get the transmission back in. By then I would like to think I could have the hyd clutch components installed and ironed out. Then again......

Do you realize that you're just shy of 3 YEARS posting about this trans swap, issues, problems, etc? I dont know how you have lasted this long. I would've either shot myself or thrown the trans away and chalked it up to experience. You are a better man than I!

I know ive learned a thing or two or eighty about manuals since I put the T56 in this car. They used to be a complete unknown to me, but now id like to think I know a thing or two about 'em.

Good luck Jeff! Keep us posted.

Some Progress.

I got the pedals mocked up and drilled the holes for the m/c. Put it all together and everything fit like a glove. I managed to jam a sawzall up under the dash and make the cut/notch on the steering bracket. Took everything out and drilled a hole in the clutch pedal for the ignition lock out. So far so good.
Sent the QuickTime bell back today.
I think tomorrow..maybe.. I could put the booster on and get the pedals and m/c install permanant. Not sure. Sunday is for watching football.
Everything lined up so nice. Too nice in fact. The John Bdzel pedal is just perfect. What a fine job in creating this. The f-body m/c is perfect too. Not as nice as a McLeod peice might be, but it looks as if it will function. At least it does without fluid.

I installed the the clutch and m/c and components. Instead of building a fancy clutch stop like 388Bu, I left the bolt that holds the m/c connecting rod out about 1/2 inch and the head of the bolt hits the clutch frame/bracket assembly perfectly. I am happy with it and since I have always marched to the beat of my own drum it will be so.

On another note, my web provider (Charter) only allows 20 lousy MBs of space and I am maxed out. Ill think of something.
